(She/Her/Hers)
I believe that all people possess the strength to push through even the most difficult times, learn from their experiences, and reach a positive state of flourishing. Psychoeducation and identifying coping tools and techniques that can be relied on during challenging times are key to my collaborative practice.
I currently hold my professional designation as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (BCACC#19471) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors
I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, NB and also an undergraduate Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Guelph, ON.
I returned to graduate school to expand my knowledge and competencies after a career in corporate sales/business development where my core strength was clearly identified as my ability to listen and connect with others. Clinical counselling has passionately called to me allowing for personal growth while being a non-judgmental resource to others.
Teens, adults, and couples who are facing a variety of challenges in their lives are my focus. Life transitions through separation, divorce, and newly blended families is an area of specialty. Other areas of focus include supporting clients in managing anxiety, depression, trauma, concerns around sexuality and intimacy, and unresolved childhood attachment issues. I also work with individuals who have experienced narcissistic behaviour from a parent or loved one, helping them develop effective coping strategies and improve their overall quality of life.
I am also interested in working with couples who are looking for help in improving lines of communication or managing ruptures in trust, so they can enjoy one another once again.
Empirically-supported perspectives guide my practice including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally-Focused Individual, Couple and Family Therapy (EFT/EFCT/EFFT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Strength-Based Therapy (SBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Positive Psychology. The combination of these theories allows me to tailor therapy for each individual I meet to support short-term, vital skill-building interventions coupled with more in-depth, experiential approaches.
My intention as your counsellor is to walk alongside you during your healing journey. I will bring empathy, humour, and an open heart into our collaborative sessions. I am in my office on Lonsdale Avenue when you need me, as well as offering the option of telephone sessions or virtual video counselling.
